Brown Bag It @ the library

This past Tuesday, Lisa and I hosted the first Brown Bag It with Art. Art as in works of art, not a man named Art. If you have not made it to a Brown Bag It at our library then you are missing programs that provide information, food, friends, and fun! Sometimes it's guest speakers, sometimes it's a film at noon time. Anyone interested can bring a brown bag lunch and the library supplies the beverages and desserts. Recently we decided to try to find guest speakers from area museums.

The Newington Library like several others in the state, offers guest passes that allow families to get in free or at a reduced rate for several area attractions. We felt it would be nice to highlight some of the incredible museums in our area that we have passes for.

Two Brown Bag It programs were put together by staffer Cynthia featuring the Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington and the New Britain Museum of American Art in New Britain. Both museums are special gems that are right in our own backyard.

Tuesday, Sharon Stotz from the Hill-Stead presented a fantastic program with anecdotes and pictures about the home, how the art collection was built, and Theodate Pope Riddle, a woman far ahead of her time. I am looking forward to October 17 when Maura O'Shea will tell us all about the New Britain Museum of American Art, with pictures of course.
