Play For All

This morning the Children's Department hosted the first in a series of playgroups for children with special needs. Three families attended; one from Newington, one from Farmington and one from Southington and all had sons on the autism spectrum. The exchange of information among the parents was amazing. The children, while they did not exactly play together, had a great time. One father, who appreciated the few minutes he had to sit down, remarked how great it was for his son to have a large area to be himself in; where dad didn't have to constantly watch and worry about him being hurt or that he was disturbing other people.
The next meeting of Play For All is Saturday, February 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon.
There was a great article about the group in the New Britain Herald dated 1/6/2007.
