Trinity College Class at Newington Library

On Tuesday March 6 Andrew DeRocco will teach E=MC²: “THE WORLD’S MOST FAMOUS EQUATION” in the Lienhard Room at the Library.

E=MC²: “THE WORLD’S MOST FAMOUS EQUATION”Hardly a day passes but what the word "energy" does not enter into conversation. When and how did the notion arise? And what, after all, does it mean? We will trace the history of its development, meet the important figures who contributed both to it and to its companion, "mass;" and, finally, unite them in what our author, David Bodanis refers to as the "world's most famous equation." Ours will not be a "technical" excursion. Curiosity and a little imagination will suffice.
Text will include E=mc², A Biography of the World's Most Famous Equation, David Bodanis. Berkley Books, New York, 2000, a division of Penguin Books.
